Description

NOTE:   This position requires two things:

 

1.  A Missouri Substitute Certificate, which can be obtained by completing an application through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education at www.dese.mo.gov.

 

2.  Either 36 college credit hours or 20 hours of online instruction through Frontline AND a high school diploma.  More information can be found at www.dese.mo.gov.

 

Dates:  May 31, 2024 - June 28, 2024 *No School June 19

PLEASE NOTE:  Depending on snow days, Summer School dates might change.

 

If you are attending a convention, class, or meeting, have a vacation or other personal event(s) planned during the employment period, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY.  Illness or emergency will be the only reasons to request substitutes through willSub unless otherwise approved. 

 

Employees working the full session will be prioritized over prearranged job shares.  Job shares must be prearranged and approved by the summer school administrator before applying.  Please note in the comments section of the application. 

 

Locations & Times:

 

Grades K-5 - Early Start

Chinn (with Prairie Point), Line Creek, and Tiffany Ridge (with Renner)

Summer School Program Hours: 

8:15 am – 3:15 pm

Work Hours:  

8:00 am - 3:30 p.m.

 

Grades K-5 - Traditional Start

English Landing (with Graden), Hawthorn (with Union Chapel), Hopewell, and Southeast

Summer School Program Hours: 

9:15 am – 4:15 pm

Work Hours:  

9:00 am - 4:30 pm 

 

Grades 6-8 

Congress (with Plaza) and Lakeview (with Walden)

Summer School Program Hours: 

7:15 am – 2:15 pm

Work Hours:  

7:00 am - 2:30 pm 

 

$18.20 per hour (7.5 hours per day).  Support Staff working in the same position for summer school will receive their current rate of pay.  Minimum pay rates are noted below.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:       

Intervene with chronic offenders to:

  • De-escalate anger and calm student.
  • Provide alternative classroom environment for work completion.
  • Process problem situations to help the student:
    1. Own the problem.
    2. Make restitution for problems.
    3. Develop a plan for success (see attached).
  • Monitor student activity in less structured situations.
  1. Hallways
  2. Common areas
  3. Restrooms
  4. Cafeteria
  • Provide mentoring relationship.

Facilitate problem-solving model with individual teacher and team working with chronic offenders to help determine:

  • When to intervene – Early Intervention.
  • How to confront-Caring Confrontation.
  • What will allow student to succeed-Protective Plan for Success.
  • How to implement on-going problem solving and support-Outlasting Acting Out.

 Document Recovery Activities:

  • Who?
  • How often?
  • How long?
  • Necessary modification?
  • Student response.
  • Long-term results (referrals to OSS, ISS, Special Education, etc.).

Communicate with administration, staff, and parents:

  • Recovery room concerns.
  • Classroom concerns.
  • Student success.
  • Home/School concerns to be addressed by counselor.

 OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:     

  • Complete paper work as requested.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as requested.
  • Exhibit positive interpersonal skills.
